My Erasmus Learnings

In two years, I’ve studies in four countries, gaining new perspectives and unforgettable experiences.

From hands-on food science in France to sensory adventures in Italy, lab work in Greece, and cultural deep dives in Romania—this journey has shaped me in ways I never expected.

Angers, France – Where It All Began

I began my journey in Angers, France, where I received a warm welcome from the international office and started my deep dive into food science. From mastering French basics (enough to confidently order at the boulangerie!) to working in labs and fieldwork, I built a strong foundation.

Key Highlights:

Piacenza, Italy – A Journey Through Sensory and Culture

My time in Italy was all about sharpening my sensory skills and diving into the rich food culture. From Sensory Analysis courses to unforgettable field trips—like balsamic vinegar in Modena and Prosciutto di Parma in Emilia—it was an incredible learning experience. And yes, those Italian classes made ordering caffès a breeze!

Key Highlights:

  • Hands-on Sensory Analysis sessions
  • Field trips from Balsamic Vinegar and Prosciutto di Parma producers
  • Optional Italian classes (To order Caffès)

Cluj-Napoca, Romania – A Cultural and Academic Dive

In Romania, I got to experience authentic local culture while diving deeper into the academic side of agri-food systems . Classes with diverse perspectives from my international cohort made every session more enriching.

Key Highlights:

  • Immersed in agri-food policy and marketing
  • Gained insights into local culture through food and culture sessions (We are real foodies!!!)

Thessaloniki, Greece – Lab & Field balance

Greece was all about blending lab work with the wonders of the sea. From diving deep into biotechnology experiments to exploring the coastline’s rich aquaculture, every day brought a new adventure. The field trips to local fisheries weren’t just about observing—they were a crash course in the delicate balance between nature and science.

Key Highlights:

  • Biotechnology Lab: Hands-on experiments of biotechnology.
  • Aquaculture Adventures: Field trips to coastal fisheries that revealed the secrets of sustainable seafood.

Explore Geographical Indications

🌍 My journey extended into exploring Geographical Indications (GIs)—more than just labels, they connect food, culture, and origin.

🍴 Curious how GIs impact food tourism and protect local specialties? Check out my database for insights on how GIs shape food tourism and protect local traditions.
